Like many other emigrants we packed our bags and sailed forth to retire in the sun. My husband Roger and I,  came to live in Crete, Greece to take on a new life and life experiences. We had the grandiose idea of retiring to enjoy sun. Wine in the evening, watching the sun set and enjoying peace tranquility and a laid back lifestyle.

We brought with us 4 companion animals 3 cats and an elderly dog and in just one month -  reality hit us like thunderbolt.

Two of our cats and our old dog were poisoned, we couldn't help our cats both died in our arms in agony. Our dog survived by the skin of her teeth but her health was seriously damaged.

For 17 years  we have spent a great deal of our time both working towards, and speaking out against animal brutality, cruelty and the indiscriminate poisoning of stray animals

Now in 2017 after many throughout the world along with caring Greek people have protested about the stray animal situation in Greece,  things thankfully,  have somewhat improved.

With the grateful help of Greek Cat Welfare Society UK we are able to feed, neuter and monitor the stray cat colonies situated in our local area.

About us - We also Volunteer...

However, we are left with a huge problem......There is nowhere other than our home to offer cats and kittens which are ill, need ongoing care, are blind, need surgery or who are simply elderly and need daily  medication.

For obvious reasons, these cats cannot be returned to the streets they of course, need a safe and secure forever home.

Many of these cats we have nursed back to health and for a few we have found loving homes here, but for the majority there are NO forever home offers - With our love of cats, we have filled this huge gap and have offered our home  and our care.

We love each and everyone of these cats, we have strong bonds with them all. There are those we have raised by hand, those we have nursed though traumatic events, protracted surgery,  eye removal and poisoning.....sadly the numbers of cats in need are increasing dramatically, but worse we are now we too are  increasingly struggling to meet costs for these and the many stray street cats rescue and care.

At this moment in time we permanently care for twenty rescued cats and three rescued dogs,

We also offer foster care for cats and puppies whenever we can until transport can be found

for them to travel to their new homes.
